In the highlands of Letefoho, eight farming families of the Rotutu Cooperative are shaping the future of coffee in one of the world’s youngest nations. With support from Karst Organics, they process their harvests using traditional organic methods and raised-bed drying, ensuring both quality and sustainability. The result is a vibrant and elegant cup: the sparkling brightness of clementine, the delicate, tea-like smoothness of rooibos, and the sweet, nutty depth of praline. A coffee that reflects both the resilience of Timor-Leste and the character of its land.

Description

From the remote mountains of Letefoho in Timor-Leste comes Rotutu, a coffee that carries both heritage and resilience. Produced by the Rotutu Cooperative, a small group of eight farming families, this lot is grown organically under the natural shade of Casuarina and Albizia trees. No chemical fertilisers are used, only traditional organic methods that sustain both the soil and the community.

Karst Organics, our sourcing partners, have worked hand-in-hand with the farmers of Rotutu since 2017, building a dedicated processing facility and supporting the community with a model that pays well above local commercial prices. Their approach allows farmers the autonomy to decide how they sell their harvests while respecting the cultural rhythms that shape daily life in Letefoho.

This fully washed Typica and Timor Hybrid lot, carefully dried on raised beds, reflects the care and adaptability of the farmers and their partners. The result is a vibrant and elegant cup: the sparkling brightness of clementine, the delicate, tea-like smoothness of rooibos, and the sweet, nutty depth of praline.
