Description

This G1 coffee comes from Banko Gotiti, a small village in the Gedeb region of southern Ethiopia, an area celebrated for producing some of the country's most expressive and distinctive coffees. Grown by smallholder farmers at elevations between 2,150 and 2,200 metres, the coffee benefits from cool temperatures, rich biodiversity and traditional farming practices that have shaped coffee production in this region for generations.

The cherries are delivered to the Gotiti Gedeb Drying Station, managed by a woman-led Ethiopian exporter with a strong commitment to supporting local farmers and creating more opportunities for women within the coffee industry. The project focuses on quality, traceability and building stronger relationships with the surrounding farming communities, recognising the important role coffee can play in creating positive change.

This lot is made up of traditional Ethiopian landrace and JARC varieties and undergoes anaerobic natural processing. Carefully selected ripe cherries are processed to encourage the development of fruit character and sweetness before being slowly dried on raised beds. Throughout drying, the coffee is regularly monitored and hand-sorted to maintain quality and consistency.

In the cup, expect juicy blueberry notes leading the way, followed by ripe peach and a smooth milk chocolate sweetness that brings everything together. The fruit character is expressive and inviting, while the chocolate notes add a comforting richness and rounded finish.

A lovely example of the exciting flavours Ethiopian coffees can offer, combining juicy fruit, sweetness and complexity in a cup that's both playful and beautifully balanced.
