More about Luis Anibal Calderon

During our visit to Colombia and the headquarters of Cofinet, we were privileged to select some of the finest coffees for our collection. Among these treasures, Luis Anibal Calderon’s Pink Bourbon from Villa Betulia stood out as a shining example of excellence with yellow fruits hitting out taste buds .

Harvested at peak ripeness, meticulously sorted, and subjected to a 30-hour underwater fermentation, this coffee is then pulped, washed, and dried under controlled conditions. This careful process brings out its vibrant tasting notes of yellow fruits, lime, dark chocolate, vanilla and dried raisins.

Luis’s story is one of resilience and innovation. At a critical point in 2011, facing the loss of his farm, Luis’s journey into specialty coffee began, leading him to experiment with exotic coffee varieties including Red Gesha, Yellow Bourbon, Java, Sidra, Maragogype, Pacamara, Marageisha, Pink Bourbon, Papayo, Caturron, Liberica,  Wush Wush and many others. His dedication culminated in 2015 when he committed his farm, Finca Villa Betulia, entirely to exotic varieties, transforming it into a shining example of specialty coffee production.

Supported by Cofinet, Luis has excelled in various processing method such as Extended Fermentation, Honeys and Naturals.  Enhancing his reputation as a master in the production of high-end micro-lots. His Pink Bourbon is a testament to this mastery, offering a cup that is as compelling as it is delicious.
